The growing demand for collaboration and communication tools due to their widespread use in various industries like retail & e-commerce, manufacturing, construction, healthcare, and education has fueled the virtual events industry market in more than one way. The adoption of UCaaS-based solutions by organizations, including academic institutions, has enabled virtual engagement in business proceedings, resulting in efficient workflows.

Growing demand for on-demand content-

Some of the key trends shaping the virtual events industry include the rise of on-demand content, which allows attendees to access content at their own pace and on their own schedule. We are also seeing an increased focus on networking and engagement, with virtual event platforms offering a range of networking and social features to facilitate connections between attendees. Finally, there is also an increasing emphasis on sustainability and eco-friendliness, with virtual events being touted as a more environmentally-friendly alternative to in-person events.

The integration of cutting-edge technologies is enhancing the experience of online communication and collaborative activities, bridging the gap between physical and virtual events. This convergence is enabling companies to optimize their time and resources by adopting virtual simulated platforms, which is supplementing the market growth. At the same time, in response to lockdowns and movement restrictions during the COVID-19 pandemic, many companies adopted a Work-From-Home (WFH) policy. As a result, virtual events have become increasingly important for businesses to connect with their remote workforce and carry out their operations.

Increasing preference for innovative ideas and proven solutions-

Virtual events offer more than just time and cost savings. They also provide a platform for sharing innovative ideas and proven solutions to tackle challenges such as declining volume. Enterprises of all sizes are increasingly leveraging virtual platforms to host large-scale events, achieving higher ROI, cost-effectiveness, and improved audience reach. Industries spanning manufacturing, healthcare, IT & telecommunications, and media & entertainment are among those adopting UCaaS and SaaS solutions for their virtual event needs.

A Harris poll conducted in January 2022 among US adults revealed that the primary reason for opting for virtual events was safety concerns, with 61% of respondents citing it. Convenience was another significant factor, with 43% of respondents enjoying the ease of attending virtual events. Additionally, 39% of respondents appreciated the opportunity to participate in events that took place in far-off locations.

Emergence of hybrid events-

One of the most exciting new launches in the virtual events space is the emergence of hybrid events, which combine the best of in-person and online experiences. This approach allows attendees to participate either in-person or remotely, giving organizers the ability to reach a wider audience while still maintaining the energy and excitement of an in-person event. There are also new virtual event platforms and software solutions getting launched, designed to make it easier and more affordable for businesses to host their own virtual events.

In the same year, Morressier unveiled upgraded virtual conference and networking solutions with the aim of improving the overall customer experience. By expanding its network and community functionalities, the company intends to facilitate vital connections and enable global learners to fully engage with conference content.

In April 2022, the second edition of the “Discover Canton Fair with Bee and Honey” trade promotion activity was successfully conducted on the official Facebook account of Canton Fair, with the theme “Fight against Pandemic, Care for Each Other.” The event was hosted by the mascots of Canton Fair, Bee, and Honey, who engaged actively with three companies – Baiyang Bed Industry, TECBOD Biological Technology, and CONTEC Medical Systems. These companies showcased their high-quality, reliable, safe, and innovative medical devices and healthcare products in innovative ways, which highlighted China’s intelligent manufacturing prowess amidst the global pandemic crisis.

New acquisitions and innovations by companies-

As the virtual events industry continues to grow and consolidate, a number of mergers and acquisitions are taking place. In the last couple of years, we have seen major players like Hopin, Bizzabo, and 6Connex acquire smaller companies to expand their offerings and enhance their capabilities. These acquisitions allow these companies to offer more comprehensive solutions to their customers, as well as increase their market share and competitive edge.

One of the most exciting innovations in the virtual events space is the use of artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning (ML) to personalize the attendee experience. By analyzing attendee data and behavior, AI-powered virtual events platforms can deliver personalized content and recommendations, making the experience more engaging and valuable for attendees. There are also innovations in areas like virtual reality (VR) and augmented reality (AR), which are allowing organizers to create more immersive and interactive virtual experiences.
